Aberdeen Proving Ground is a large U.S. Army installation (72,500 acres) located 35 miles northeast of Baltimore, MD, along the Chesapeake Bay. It is the headquarters of the Army Test & Evaluation Command (TECOM). Also based at Aberdeen is the U.S. Army Chemical & Biological Defense Command, which is the Army's executive agent for chemical and biological research, development and acquisition with the Department of Defense. Other facilities at the Aberdeen Proving Ground include the Army Ordnance Center and School, Army Environmental Center, Ballistic Research Laboratory, Human Engineering Laboratory, Combat Systems Test Activity, Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity, Foreign Materiel Intelligence Battalion, and the Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense.
